2005: MARCH PROGRAM

Marketing The Heart of Washington
Influencing the Consumption Habits of Washington Consumers
Presented by Shannon Hitchcock, Heart of WA

Shannon Hitchcock

Known to multi-task in multiple cities, Shannon uses her public relations savvy to successfully unite the growers, restaurateurs and retailers that collectively tell the story of From the Heart of Washington.

A Redmond native, Shannon attended Washington State University where she graduated with a Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations in 1994.

Because Shannon fell head over heels with a Zillah farmer (prompting her to relocate to Yakima in 1997), many joke that she is quite literally "married to her job." Before she was snapped up by the Washington State Fruit Commission to be appointed Executive Director at From the Heart of Washington, Shannon spearheaded newspaper promotional efforts as Marketing Manager for the Yakima Herald-Republic.

Ask Shannon about the rewards of an often challenging career and she readily explains.

"I love my job; I have great passion for telling the story of Washington agriculture and I love it when I can get out into the fields, orchards and farmers and meet the people responsible for growing this wonderful product I'm helping to market," she says.

Married for seven years with a three-year-old, Raelynn, and four-year-old, Sammy, this busy mom delights in her spare moments of gourmet cooking, fly fishing and biking.
